About The Position

Reports to Operations Supervisor or Surgical Technician as required. Performs services related to the setup, reprocessing and care of patient use equipment & surgical instruments. Performs inventory control functions related to supply areas.

Requirements

  • An accredited High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Possesses a Sterile Processing certification through HSPA or CBSPD
  • Must maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Maintains required CEU’s in accordance with certifying body.
  • Previous experience in Sterile Processing, Nursing or Surgery with strong commitment to implementing Infection Control, disinfection and sterilization principles required.
  • Basic computer competency required.
  • Willingness to learn and understand surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and decontamination, and sterile processing equipment.
  • visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable.
  • ability to hear (with or without aides)
  • ability to orally communicate
  • good manual dexterity
  • ability to push, pull, roll, and lift to 50 pounds.
  • ability to stand, walk frequently
  • ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently

Nice To Haves

  • Understands and can identify the cleaning products, methods and procedures used in SPD for each item based on manufacturers IFU’s preferred.
