About The Position

Responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, industry standards, recommended practices on sterilization, and regulatory requirements. The Central Sterile Processing Services (CSPS) department is at the heart of patient care at Mass General Hospital. We play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and effective care by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing medical equipment and supplies used in surgeries, procedures, and patient care areas throughout the hospital. Our dedicated team's hard work is integral to the hospital's success, ensuring the best possible care for our patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred
  • related experience 1-2 years preferred
  • Knowledge of case cart assembly.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory standards of materials management.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Responsibilities

  • Processes specialty and general instruments.
  • Resets instrument sets without error.
  • Decontaminates instruments and equipment according to procedure.
  • Maintains Central Sterile Department stock levels.
  • Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing.
  • Communicates instrument repair needs to supervisor.
