Sterile processing Technician Certified
About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician Certified is responsible for all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and will provide guidance and education to Sterile Processing Department (SPD) employees. This role may assume the responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned and assists the supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees. The technician also assists with case carts management, communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor, and uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with various stakeholders including the Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and OR Clinical Coordinators. Ensuring equipment is functioning optimally and reporting issues are key duties, as is assisting the Sterile Processing Supervisor with departmental compliance logs and assisting the SPD Manager with policy implementation and enforcement. The role may also involve assisting with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned, and protecting self and others by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years' experience in Sterile Processing
- Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required.
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed
- Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.
