About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Technician at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, you will help deliver safe, high-quality surgical care by ensuring instruments are cleaned, sterilized, organized, and ready when needed. Attention to safety and detail supports patient protection and efficient surgical care. The role includes preparing instrument trays and surgical rooms, monitoring sterilization processes, handling biohazardous materials, and working with nurses and surgeons to support procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Obtain either CSPDT (Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification within two years of employment start date.
• No experience required.
• No travel required.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and supplies according to safety standards.
• Monitor sterilization cycles, document results, and promptly resolve issues.
• Prepare and organize instrument trays and surgical rooms according to the daily schedule and procedural needs.
• Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Work with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries.
