About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician works under the supervision of the manager or designee in maintaining, disinfecting, sterilization and processing of surgical instruments and supplies. Requirements

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year Experience Level
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area while handling various types of equipment, instruments, and supplies used during surgical procedures.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation, equipment and supplies for the OR and other areas as needed.
  • Keeps accurate quality control records regarding Bowie-Dick Tests, Biologics and individual load records.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of necessary supplies for Sterile Processing department and orders as needed.
  • Transports sterile supplies and equipment to other areas of the hospital.
  • Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintains department records, reports and files as required.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
  • Consistently provides accurate and complete hand-off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy.
  • Attends 80% of all department meetings and required to review and initial all department minutes missed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
