About The Position

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is seeking a Full-time Sterile Processing Tech to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, and sterilized to meet high standards of patient safety and compliance. The technician will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, maintain inventory levels, and participate in quality assurance programs.

Requirements

High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Perform thorough decontamination of soiled surgical instruments, sterilization containers, and medical equipment according to manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and established safety protocols.
Inspect, evaluate, and assemble surgical instruments and sets; utilize count sheets and tracking systems to validate completeness, determine repair or replacement needs, and ensure tools are ready for effective sterilization.
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring all instruments, containers, and machines function properly and meet strict cleanliness and quality standards.
Maintain optimal inventory levels of sterile supplies and instruments to ensure accurate and timely availability for surgical case carts.
Participate in the department's quality assurance program by conducting regular peer audits to maintain high standards of patient safety and compliance.
