About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Tech, you provide staff with the equipment they need to perform safe and successful procedures through effective sterilization and processing. The role is part-time, based in the Sterile Processing Department at 1555 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with varied evening shifts of 4 p.m.–8 p.m., 5 p.m.–9 p.m., or 6 p.m.–10 p.m.

Requirements

• Qualify through one of the listed credentialing or grandfathering pathways, or under the stated hard-to-fill clause.
• For the credentialed pathway, pass a nationally accredited central service exam and hold and maintain either the Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential or the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential.
• For the grandfathering pathway, provide evidence of employment or contract services as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year between 1/1/2011 and 1/1/2015.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and supply sterile goods and equipment throughout the hospital, including decontamination, cleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distribution.
• Use appropriate supplies during sterilization; collect and clean soiled equipment, machines, carts, and shelves.
• Transport needed supplies, medication, and equipment throughout the hospital.
