About The Position

Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for performing effective and efficient decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of patient care equipment, surgical instruments, and medical supplies, in support of all hospital and clinical areas. Accountable for sterilization documentation. Knowledgeable in all processes relates to unit sterilizers. Working under the supervision and guidance of manager, supervisor, lead workers, and more experienced staff, will utilize knowledge and skills to work independently in all job functions. Supports supply chain activities including but not limited to supply and implant procurement, par levels, case cart picking, perioperative inventory, and direct patient supply requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge in the use of autoclave, steris, washer/disinfection, sterrad, etc.
  • Manual dexterity, computer skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, spell, do simple math, write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to function successfully as part of a team.
  • Pass and maintain Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHSCSMM) within 12 months of date of hire or transfer into position.
  • 1-2 years work experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or supply chain/logistics environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) and Surgical Technologist Certification.
  • 1-2 years of Sterile Processing experience.
