About The Position

As our Sterile Processing Tech at CHI St Vincent Infirmary, you’ll help our team oversee the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments or supplies in a sterile processing environment. To be a successful sterile processing technician, you should be meticulous with strong attention to detail. You should have a good working knowledge of a variety of sterilization techniques and be able to work with fragile equipment.

Requirements

• High School Graduate general studies and Two years experience in a Sterile Processing Department, upon hire or High School GED general studies and Two years experience in a Sterile Processing Department, upon hire or Other Metropolitan test or equivalent and Two years experience in a Sterile Processing Department, upon hire and Two years dealing directly with instrumentation and Experience with inventory control, tracking systems, purchasing, and use of computers, decontamination, and sterilization systems.
• Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire or Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, upon hire or Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate sterilization equipment
• Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized
• Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment
• Sterilize, prepare, wrap and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures
• Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures and medical carts
• Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance and supplies
