About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician reports to the Manager of Sterile Processing. Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. This role requires a graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination, with the ability to understand and implement detailed instructions, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and possess basic computer skills. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare environment, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be detail-oriented. A minimum of 1 year of experience as an SPD Tech is required. Additionally, certification from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management) or CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) is necessary. Successful completion of the department’s internal written and practical exam, as well as meeting required performance and productivity standards, is required to attain and maintain Sterile Processing II status.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of sterile processing experience, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting.
  • Successful completion of the department’s internal written and practical exam, as well as meeting required performance and productivity standards, is required to attain and maintain Sterile Processing II status.

  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous)
