The Sterile Processing Tech II at Jewett Orthopedic Institute demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the entire sterilization process, including cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts. This role requires high professional and ethical standards, utilizing knowledge of microbiology and infection control to process technical patient care instrumentation and equipment. The position involves advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation function within at least one surgical specialty and proficiency in decontaminating a wide variety of patient equipment. The Tech is responsible for the sterilization of requested instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, as well as daily record keeping and monitoring of sterilization processes. Additionally, the role includes participating in the preceptorship and orientation of new team members, distributing instrument trays according to surgical schedules and preferences, and consulting with the SPD Supervisor or Operations Specialist. The Tech acts as a patient advocate for safe sterilization practices and ensures a safe environment through infection control procedures. Maintaining punctual attendance and compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures is also required.
