About The Position

The Sterile Processing Tech II is responsible for ensuring surgical teams receive correct, functional, and sterile instrumentation to support patient safety and surgical outcomes. The role performs decontamination, preparation and packaging, sterilization, and dispatch of instruments, following established procedures and infection-control standards. The position also requires attention to detail, organization, professionalism, and continued learning about standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• More than 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment within the department.
• Prepare the work area at the beginning of the shift and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Participate in routine cleaning of sterilizers, surface areas, storage carts, and other items.
• Transport and decontaminate soiled instrumentation and equipment until clean and disinfected, and dispose of infectious items according to established procedures.
• Answer incoming calls in a timely manner and respond immediately to emergency requests.
• Accurately assemble and package instrumentation, special trays, and equipment for sterilization.
• Inspect and lubricate instruments according to manufacturer recommendations to ensure cleanliness and proper working order.
• Perform decontamination, preparation and packaging, sterilization, and dispatch of surgical instrumentation.
• Continue expanding knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation.
