About The Position

The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing instruments and equipment at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital. The technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor and cooperates with members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team. Using attained knowledge of sterilization processes, the technician begins learning to work independently in a changing technical environment.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successfully complete the SPD Readiness Course within the first year of employment.
• Demonstrate professionalism and ethical standards.

Nice To Haves

• Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment.
• Complete assigned tasks using appropriate resources and references for processing instrumentation and equipment.
• Follow the sterilization process from cleaning and decontamination through packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts according to pick lists or surgeon preference cards.
• Work cooperatively with members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
• Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable standards.
• Comply with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
