About The Position

Performs daily activities related to cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, packaging, processing, sterilizing, and storing surgical instruments and supplies. Maintains inventory levels and ensures the proper care and operation of equipment. Applies aseptic techniques, infection control procedures, and regulatory guidelines to help maintain the sterile field. Models behavior consistent with MLH's Mission, Vision, and Values. Must be competent to perform all job functions by the end of orientation. May be required to float to other locations as needed. This position has no supervisory or lead responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
• Ability to understand and apply basic infection control and aseptic technique principles.
• Manual dexterity and speed for assembly-line tasks.
• Ability to communicate promptly, clearly, and accurately in writing and verbally.
• Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of workflow.
• Ability to read and understand complex instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Must be competent to perform all job functions by the end of orientation.
• May be required to float to other locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

• No prior work experience is preferred.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization techniques, infection control requirements, and surgical procedures and instruments.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, assemble, package, process, and sterilize surgical instruments according to standards.
• Stock and replenish supplies and equipment.
• Apply aseptic techniques, regulatory guidelines, and infection control procedures to maintain the sterile field.
• Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper care and operation of equipment.
• Perform other job functions as assigned or requested.
• Model behavior consistent with MLH's Mission, Vision, and Values.
