About The Position

As a Central Processing Technician, you will help keep operating rooms and hospital floors supplied and running smoothly. You will clean, process, assemble, sterilize, distribute, organize, and store medical instruments, maintaining high sterilization standards to support infection prevention and patient safety. You will monitor quality, keep instrument inventory adequate, and collaborate with operating room staff, hospital floors, and other departments. The role involves hands-on work in a fast-paced, changing environment and may include working with Surgical Technicians to prepare instruments for upcoming operations. On-the-job training is provided, with opportunities to advance to Tech II or III.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.

Responsibilities

Retrieve and process used medical instruments.
Clean and sterilize instruments using various chemicals and processes.
Assemble, process, and distribute medical instruments.
Maintain sterilization standards to support infection prevention and patient safety.
Organize and store instruments for efficient access.
Ensure adequate inventory of instruments as needed.
Check work for quality issues and uphold department standards.
Collaborate with operating room staff, hospital floors, and other departments to ensure they have needed instruments.
Provide updates to surgeons and other medical professionals as needed.
Adapt to changing work needs and help implement new departmental initiatives.
