About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for the Endoscopy department on the 3rd shift. This role assists with the coordination of the daily patient surgical schedule and ensures instrumentation is sterile and ready for use. The technician will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing all flexible bronchoscopes, video scopes, and related Endoscopy instruments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Novice level proficiency in Environmental Sterility & Safety
  • Novice level knowledge of Surgical Equipment
  • Novice level proficiency in Equipment Operation and Maintenance
  • Novice level proficiency in Inventory Control
  • Novice level ability in Quality Assurance
  • Novice level skill set in Distinguishing skill set
  • Ability to read, interpret and practically apply Manufacturer Instructions for Use
  • Strong knowledge base of regulations and standards that govern sterile processing functions and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of automatic endoscope preprocessors (AER) and various methods of manual HLD.

Nice To Haves

  • Current VUMC staff are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.
  • Former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.
  • The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains work environment in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
  • Performs, documents, and monitors all quality control tools.
  • Receives and inventories departmental supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques for high-level disinfection and sterilization.
  • Operates all departmental equipment safely and effectively.
  • Scans instrumentation and assembles according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
  • Provides technical support and assists in selecting instruments and equipment for Endoscopy Procedures.
