About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Technician 2, you clean, sterilize, process, arrange, and distribute patient equipment. You may also mentor Sterile Processing Technician 1 staff. The role supports patient care by preparing rooms and equipment, maintaining supplies, and following safety and infection-control standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of experience.
• Must hold one of the following certifications: CBSPD, CRCST, CSPDT, or CST.
• Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures.
• Understanding of simple medical terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, including tact when dealing with patients and colleagues.
• Adherence to safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection-control practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange rooms by organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies according to department needs.
• Clean instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants, and operate sterilization equipment according to guidelines.
• Order, replenish, and distribute instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.
• Follow safety, environmental, and infection-control rules and protocols.
• Share skills with the team, offer in-service training, assist with training Sterile Processing staff, and mentor entry-level staff.
