Under the general supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for overseeing all Sterile Processing Department (SPD) operations, ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation. Responsibilities include the collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This role manages surgical instrument inventory and departmental supplies, serves as the subject matter expert for product reprocessing, and ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and professional standards, including AAMI, AORN, APIC, and CMS guidelines. The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for departmental budgeting, staff leadership, equipment oversight, and collaborating with clinical departments to ensure timely instrument availability while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
