About The Position

Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director, the Sterile Processing Supervisor reports to the assistant director and is responsible for all aspects of the department. This role oversees and manages the sterile processing areas supporting Surgical Services and coordinates the reprocessing of and delivery of items to other areas within the health care organization. The supervisor collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to improve sterile processing services, develops and maintains a quality improvement program, and supports the integration of current evidence and standards into sterile processing services. Additionally, this position oversees the development and training of new hire employees and the continuing education of current staff. The role involves maintaining accurate sterilization and processing records according to established standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring comprehensive data collection to support the department, and analyzing this data for optimum workflow and resource utilization. The supervisor develops work plans, methods, and procedures, determines work priorities and schedules for adequate staff coverage, and resolves challenges encountered during daily operations while promoting teamwork and communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years experience in sterile processing, central supply, or perioperative services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic MS Office, Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field
  • Current HSPA - CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD – CSPDT required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience in sterile processing, operating room, or supply chain services desired
  • Associate Degree or equivalent from two year college preferred
