About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor to supervise certified central services technicians to prepare and track all sterilization of equipment and instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Assists central services techs in training to adhere to AAMI, AORN standards. Supervises operating room case carts, sterile trays and supplies for the operating room as well as the rest of the hospital as needed. Updates count sheets for every instrument tray. Tracks IUS and sterilization logs and decreases IUS rates. Responsible for creating cost-effective methods within the department and working with the inventory control coordinator. Supervises students in the sterile processing area. Responsible for maintaining and reporting monthly sterilization data to the Director of Surgery as well as any added responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Director of Surgery.

HS diploma or GED.
BLS from AHA.
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a supervisory role.
Minimum 3-5 years in sterile processing.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer knowledge.

Nice To Haves

Sterile processing class, preferred.
Certification as a sterile processing technician from AAAMI accredited entity preferred.
Additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervises the decontamination/sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use.
Performs quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly.
Inspects equipment, instruments and packaging for cleanliness, defects, and/or malfunctions.
Oversees documentation and labeling of sterilization cycles/packages.
Demonstrates use of correct surgical attire.
Dresses appropriately for working in the OR environment.
Follows and teaches AORN/AAMI/JCAHO guidelines for sterilization processes.
Supervises others carrying out these processes.
