As a Sterile Processing Specialist, you're the unseen hero ensuring every instrument is clean, safe and ready for action. If you have interest in contributing to this amazing mission apply NOW! Prepares, inspects, assembles and sterilizes surgical instruments/equipment according to hospital and departmental procedures. Provides a continuous flow of sterile supplies, equipment and instrumentation to all areas of Children's Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
  • Analytical ability to learn and differentiate different types of instruments, supplies and equipment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with physicians, nursing staff and patients/families.
  • Ability to stand and maneuver equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Basic knowledge and skill of computers.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred.
  • Knowledge of complex instrumentation preferred.
  • CSPDT-Sterile Process Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution within 2 Years.
  • CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management within 2 Years.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Identifies, inventories, inspects and assembles surgical instrument trays for the designated departments.
  • Provides for proper sterilization of prepared items.
  • Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe and efficient manner and takes appropriate action.
  • Assembles and dispenses case carts, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Set up and dispatch specialty carts and emergency carts according to procedures.
  • Maintain work environment in a safe, clean orderly manner.
  • Cleans scopes as needed per department demands.
