About The Position

Leon Surgery Centers at Dadeland is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Sterile Processing Specialist to join our surgical team. This role is essential to supporting safe and efficient patient care by ensuring the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The Sterile Processing Specialist plays a critical role in infection prevention and patient safety while supporting the Pre-Operative, Operating Room (OR), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods, instrumentation, and infection prevention standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sterile processing experience preferred; experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment while maintaining quality control and compliance with infection prevention standards.
  • Accurately document sterilization records, biological indicators, load logs, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and distribution of sterile supplies and instrument sets.
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of instrument trays and case carts for scheduled procedures.
  • Communicate with surgical and nursing staff regarding instrument needs and support timely surgical starts.
  • Respond to intraoperative requests and prioritize urgent instrument reprocessing needs.
  • Retrieve, process, and ensure the timely turnaround of instruments following procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while participating in quality improvement initiatives.
