Requirements

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
  • 1+ years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred.
  • Analytical ability to learn and differentiate different types of instruments, supplies and equipment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with physicians, nursing staff and patients/families.
  • Ability to stand and maneuver equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of complex instrumentation preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and skill of computer use.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required
  • CSPDT-Sterile Process Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution OR CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management within 18 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred.
  • Knowledge of complex instrumentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Identifies, inventories, inspects and assembles surgical instrument trays for the designated departments.
  • Provides for proper sterilization of prepared items.
  • Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe and efficient manner and takes appropriate action.
  • Assembles and dispenses case carts, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Set up and dispatch specialty carts and emergency carts according to procedures.
  • Maintain work environment in a safe, clean orderly manner.
  • Cleans scopes as needed per department demands.
