About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Shift Supervisor to oversee day-to-day Sterile Processing Department (SPD) operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for supervising SPD technicians, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining workflow efficiency, and supporting high-quality sterilization processes for surgical instruments and medical equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive sterile processing knowledge, and experience managing teams within healthcare or manufacturing settings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One of the following certifications is required: CSPM – Certified Sterile Processing Management, CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician, CSPDT – Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, CSIS – Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist, Other recognized sterile processing certifications accepted per facility guidelines
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare or manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of sterilization standards, infection control, OSHA regulations, and surgical instrumentation
  • Familiarity with medical device reprocessing and sterile processing workflows
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, reporting tools, and timekeeping systems
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to motivate, mentor, and support staff

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred OR 3+ years of leadership experience in healthcare or manufacturing environments
  • CIS – Certified Instrument Specialist
  • CHL – Healthcare Leadership Certification

Responsibilities

  • Supervise sterile processing technicians and coordinate staffing assignments during assigned shifts
  • Monitor decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, OSHA regulations, infection control guidelines, and departmental procedures
  • Perform quality assurance audits and maintain accurate sterilization documentation and records
  • Train, mentor, and support SPD staff development and competencies
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration with appropriate teams
  • Collaborate with leadership regarding scheduling, workflow management, and operational goals
  • Communicate effectively with clinical departments to ensure instrument availability and workflow continuity
  • Support inventory management and supply ordering processes
  • Promote workplace safety, quality improvement initiatives, and KPI monitoring
  • Address customer service concerns and operational issues professionally
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership
