Sterile Processing Liaison
About The Position
The Sterile Processing Liaison serves as an expert in sterile processing and acts as a critical liaison with surgical staff, providing instrumentation and customer service to multiple Surgical Services departments. The role supports efficient, accurate delivery of sterile instrumentation and helps maintain operational flow and patient safety through troubleshooting and communication between Sterile Processing and Surgical Services. The liaison communicates daily with Operating Room leadership and staff about instrument supplies, specific needs, and issues; checks case carts for scheduled surgeries in the designated specialty service line; and coordinates obtaining additional or missing items to prevent case delays. The role also checks equipment, scopes, and instrumentation for proper functioning before use, monitors priorities to ensure instruments are ready for first cases and subsequent cases, and reviews scheduled procedures to anticipate issues and discuss follow-through with the Circulator or Operating Room team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- CRCST or CSPDT certification.
- Two years of sterile equipment processing experience.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Instrument Specialist certification.
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Communicate daily with Operating Room leadership and staff regarding instrument supplies, specific needs, and issues.
- Check case carts for the day's surgical cases in the designated specialty service line.
- Coordinate obtaining additional or missing items needed to prevent case delays.
- Check equipment, scopes, and instrumentation for proper functioning before use.
- Monitor the priority list to ensure instrumentation is ready for the day's first cases and for subsequent cases.
- Review scheduled surgical procedures, anticipate issues requiring follow-through, and discuss them with the Circulator or Operating Room team.
- Provide exceptional customer service and facilitate communication between Sterile Processing and Surgical Services.
