About The Position

The Sterile Processing-Lead is a full-time position responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role requires adherence to Standard Precautions, meticulous inspection and assembly of instruments, and accurate monitoring of sterilization processes. The Lead will also manage the distribution of sterile and non-sterile supplies and order/put away supplies and linens as needed.

Requirements

2-5 years of progressively responsible Sterile Processing experience.
Central Service Technician certification required within 18 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in Sterile Processing operations.
Experience in an Operating Room setting.

Responsibilities

Follows Standard Precautions by wearing appropriate protective attire in the Decontamination area.
Decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment, maintaining a continuous flow.
Utilizes appropriate cleaning detergents and agents according to directions and MSDS sheets.
Inspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage before assembly.
Assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings.
Wraps or pouches items according to size and type.
Challenges the sterilization process using internal, external, and biological monitoring systems.
Monitors, reads, documents, and interprets parameters for all types of sterilizers (Steam and Sterrad).
Sterilizes instruments and surgical trays following prescribed policies and procedures.
Processes or produces sterile items.
Distributes sterile and non-sterile supplies and medical equipment upon request or case cart requisition.
Orders and puts away supplies & linens upon request as needed.
