About The Position
The Sterile Processing Intern supports the sterile processing department under the supervision of a sterile processing technician. The intern prepares reusable surgical instruments and supplies in the correct amounts and layout to meet medical and surgical needs, and wraps supplies according to technical specifications to maintain sterility during handling and throughout shelf life. The position is intended for high school students age 16 and older and college students beginning a career in surgical services. The job summary describes the general nature and level of work and is not exhaustive.
Requirements
- Be in good standing in an educational program, including passing required courses, achieving the required GPA, registering for required courses, and meeting clinical attendance requirements.
- Be able to pass position competencies according to the job description, evaluation, and department policies.
- Obtain required certification within 18 months of hire.
