Position Summary The Sterile Processing Educator works under the direction of the SPD Manager per established policies and procedures. A key responsibility is planning, designing, and implementing education for SPD staff, as well as onboarding and orienting new employees. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develops, monitors, and revises SPD educational programs for new and existing employees. Assesses and documents staff training to identify areas for improvement. Maintain and improve knowledge in specialized areas of processing reusable medical devices by developing education plans for continuing education, in-services, certification, and/or formal education. Assesses employee competency based on department and hospital policies. Assesses employee compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Regularly, SOPs, Competencies, and Instructions for Use (IFU) documents must be posted and maintained. Tracks, trends, and analyzes education data. Prepares reports based on findings, makes recommendations, and/or identifies opportunities for improvement. Enhances learning and development by creating a positive environment. Provide SPD-related clinical staff education as the subject matter expert. Performs other duties as assigned. Our growth is creating great opportunities! Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, 1-2 years of specialist training in the specialty area
  • National certification in Sterile Processing, CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician required or CST - Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year SPD experience.
  • CST Must obtain CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician within 1 year of employment.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications and SPD instrument tracking systems.
  • This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • CIS - Certified Instrument Specialist preferred.
  • Experience in sterile supervision and previous teaching experience are preferred.
