About The Position

The CSP Educator position is accountable for coordinating education in the Central Service (CS) department, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the education and training of Central Service staff. Requirements

Highschool Diploma/GED required
Associates Degree in Healthcare or Business related field required
College level courses and related experience may substitute for Associate Degree.
Minimum two years experience in Sterile Processing Department required.
Minimum two years experience in management preferred

Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) - Must obtain within 180 days of hiring
Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) - Must obtain within 180 days of hiring
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - Must obtain within 180 days of hiring if GI is managed by SPD
Three years experience working directly with OR instrumentation and case cart program preferred

Responsibilities

Extensive knowledge in analyzing and interpreting manufacturer’s IFU for surgical instrumentation, endoscopes, and medical equipment.
Ability to operate semi-automatic to automatic sterilizing equipment; mechanical decontamination equipment and other related equipment, e.g., ultra-sonic washers, rinsers/dryers according to manufacturer’s IFU.
Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Reports defective or damaged materials, equipment and supplies to supervisor.
Coordinates the departmental orientation of new hires.
Plans, implements and promotes the education and training of staff members to ensure professional development.
Ensures that the department meets all the regulations, standards and guidelines consistent with AORN, AAMI, The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA requirements as well as the hospital’s policies and procedures.
Completes required continuous training and education, including computer-related requirements.
Manages and maintains employee compliance folders to ensure certifications, proficiencies, and related documentation are up to date.
Generates and prepares agenda for Meetings and documents the meeting’s minutes.
Follows all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Audits quality and performance test documentation for all sterilizers, washers, and high-level disinfecting equipment.
Uses Tracking Software such as Ascendco, SPM, Censitrac, Abacus, T-Dot, etc. to generate various reports and audit compliance records to ensure accuracy.
