About The Position

The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day coordination of supplies, instrumentation, and equipment to support Surgical Services. This role ensures the efficient ordering, tracking, and maintenance of instruments and supplies while supporting regulatory compliance, quality documentation, and staff education. The Coordinator plays a key role in materials management, data integrity, and cost-effective operations that contribute to positive clinical and financial outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least three (3) years supply chain & inventory control experience in a hospital/healthcare environment required
  • SPD experience required; anesthesia tech or scrub tech experience preferred.
  • Strong math & analytical skills; able to analyze financial and budget reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate, negotiate, and promote conflict resolution
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines through critical thinking skills
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic computer hardware & network troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers

  • Working knowledge of Materials Management Information System and standard office software applications
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 lbs., stand for 8 hours, stoop, bend, pull, and push as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily ordering and inventory of clinical and non-clinical supplies to support Surgical Services.
  • Coordinate instrument ordering, repairs, and returns to ensure operational readiness.
  • Track and maintain regulatory and quality documentation in accordance with organizational and industry standards.
  • Perform data entry and maintenance within instrument tracking systems.
  • Develop and support staff education materials related to sterile processing and supply management, as needed.
  • Monitor and manage consignment inventory, including tracking usage and reconciliation.
  • Review and monitor the expiration dates of medical and surgical supplies to ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Maintain the integrity of implant logs and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Utilize information systems (e.g., Mediclick, Microsoft Office, Surginet, Kreg) for tasks such as maintaining shopping guides, updating Surgical Item Master, and managing supply data.
  • Assist with analysis of supply utilization and support recommendations for budget and clinical practice improvements.
  • Participate in the research, evaluation, and selection of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate logistics related to product trials, purchasing, receiving, and ongoing evaluation of supplies and capital equipment.
  • Support Value Analysis Committee processes, including preparing documentation and facilitating new item requests.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate staff to ensure accurate documentation of billable supplies in patient records to support appropriate billing.
