About The Position

As a Sterile Processing Assistant at Henry Ford Health's Providence Hospitals, you will help ensure the efficient flow of supplies, instruments, and equipment within operating rooms and sterile processing areas. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency, or one year of applicable job-specific experience.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, stand for extended periods, and move equipment throughout the department.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in instrument and supply management.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to follow established protocols and safety standards.
Effective communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively in a patient-centered environment.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a healthcare setting, sterile processing, or surgical environment.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
Knowledge of infection control and sterilization principles.
Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) or willingness to pursue certification.

Responsibilities

Retrieve soiled instruments, equipment, and carts from clinical departments at regular intervals, following appropriate standards.
Distribute and inventory supplies to the operating room and within the Sterile Processing Department.
Answer phones and assist callers in obtaining needed supplies or instruments.
Pull instruments and deliver case carts to the operating room or labor and delivery.
Unload cart washers and dry items before placing them on carts for assembly.
Move equipment and carts to maintain workflow and clear traffic paths.
