About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician supports safe patient care by ensuring surgical instruments and medical devices are properly cleaned, inspected, assembled, sterilized, and prepared for use. The role follows manufacturer instructions, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements to help maintain quality and patient safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed instructions, policies, and manufacturer guidelines.
• CRCST certification required within 12 months of hire.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or to be obtained immediately upon hire and maintained thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Previous sterile processing experience.
• CRCST certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices.
• Operate and monitor reprocessing equipment, including washers, sterilizers, and related systems.
• Perform quality assurance testing and maintain accurate documentation and instrument tracking records.
• Ensure sterile instruments and trays are available for clinical use.
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Identify damaged or missing instruments and coordinate repair or replacement processes.
• Participate in audits, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
