Previous Sterile Processing Technician experience
Completion of Sterile Processing Technician training

Nice To Haves

2-3 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience in an acute care hospital

Responsibilities

Makes regular pick-ups from all units of all contaminated equipment in a timely fashion. Keeps contaminated supplies and equipment properly covered when transporting
Decontaminates equipment, instruments and all other reusable items. Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) Understands pathogen transference Cleans effectively / competently utilizing manufacturer's recommended practices No returned instruments for re-cleaning
Utilizes ONE SOURCE documents to identify appropriate cleaning & sterilization /decontamination method
Operates washer/decontaminator and ultrasonic machines.
Understands proper loading techniques
Checks machine chemical levels
Knows who to contact when machines malfunction
Performs high-level disinfectant usage, monitoring, and disposal. Monitors solution daily and checks outdate Proper use of neutralizer for disposal Follows spill procedures
Assembles surgical instrument trays according to check off list.
Reads and updates check off list as needed Notifies manager of missing instruments Removes / replaces broken instruments
Clearly labels outside of container or wrapper if there are missing items
