About The Position

Portland Public Schools is seeking an innovative and passionate STEM Teacher to join the team at Portland Middle School. We are looking for an educator who inspires curiosity, encourages problem-solving, and creates engaging learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our district is collaborative and committed to supporting staff growth, instructional innovation, and positive outcomes for every student. This position is preferred as a full-time assignment; however, part-time assignments of 0.5 FTE or greater may be considered based on candidate preference.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher
• A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement for grades 6–8
• Strong base in the subject area content, common core standards

• Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
• Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
• Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
• Experience in working with special needs students
• A Mathematics (EX) endorsement is preferred

• Integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
