STEM Specialty Camp Counselor
About The Position
Camp Halfmoon, in Goffstown NH, is seeking Jr. Counselors and Counselors for the summer 2026 season! Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, serves youth to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y. Counselors will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp. They will work with fellow counselors to manage campers, facilitate and participate in camp activities, and build valuable peer-to-peer connections.
Requirements
- Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred
- Knowledge of STEM subjects and enthusiasm for hands-on learning
- Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
- Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
- Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging STEM activities, projects, and challenges for campers
- Teach age-appropriate concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on learning
- Facilitate experiments, coding activities, robotics, engineering design challenges, and other STEM-focused experiences
- Supervise campers and ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment
- Prepare, organize, and maintain STEM equipment, materials, and learning spaces
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among campers
