About The Position

Coburn Technologies is seeking a motivated and high-achieving STEM Engineering Intern to support our engineering team in developing innovative solutions within the optical technology industry. This internship provides hands-on experience working on research and development initiatives, electromechanical automation, software integration, and product development. The ideal candidate is passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, enjoys solving complex problems, and is eager to contribute to real-world engineering projects while learning from experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 4.0.
  • Student entering junior or senior year of high school and participating in a STEM-focused academic program.
  • Strong interest in engineering, research, and technology.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of control algorithms and the conversion of software from one platform to another (e.g., Mathematica to Maxima).
  • Support the evaluation of equipment and prototype performance by identifying key performance criteria, developing test plans, and conducting experiments.
  • Explore and evaluate alternative software implementations and platforms for legacy systems and new product development.
  • Participate in research and development projects involving electromechanical systems and software integration.
  • Assist with product architecture, prototyping, engineering documentation, and process implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with engineering and business leadership.
  • Demonstrate innovation, accountability, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
