ArcelorMittal Calvert is seeking a Steelmaking Process Engineer to lead process support for Steelmaking. This role involves providing guidance to shift crews to ensure the production of high-quality steel according to state-of-the-art procedures, aligning with the business goals of ArcelorMittal Calvert. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgical, materials, chemical, or mechanical.
  • Basic technical knowledge of Steelmaking.
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced technical knowledge of Steelmaking preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of Melt Shop preferred.
  • Experience working as an engineer, specialist, or similar position in Steelmaking.
  • Computer Skills to include SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate Steelmaking performance, including production, cost, and quality key performance indicators (KPIs); identify appropriate counter-measures in case of non-achievement of KPIs.
  • Optimize Steelmaking productivity, capacity, energy, and consumption by monitoring industry best practices for Steelmaking processes.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to perform product trials and provide process expertise for improvement project implementation.
  • Interface and communicate with maintenance team members and other members of the steelmaking facility, including EAF, LMF, RH, and Refractory.
  • Write and update work instructions for Steelmaking operations and organize related HIRAC reviews.
  • Take ownership to seek and correct actions for process outliers.
  • Coordinate Steelmaking activities with the Steelmaking Area Manager, Team Manager, and Specialists.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities, including data collection and analysis to identify trends and outliers in production and performance parameters.
  • Ensure Steelmaking complies with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Lead/participate in incident root cause analysis and corrective actions for failures, including safety incidents, environmental deviations, quality deviations, and production losses.
  • Count, order, and maintain Steelmaking inventory needs.
