About The Position
We are hiring an experienced Steel Shipping Lead to help coordinate material loadout and shipping operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This position combines hands-on work with team leadership and focuses on safe, accurate, and timely shipments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel material handling or shipping
- 2+ years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical mast lifts, and forklifts
- Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong focus on safety and quality
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day steel shipping and loadout activities
- Make sure materials are properly loaded, secured, and ready for transport
- Check material markings, load quantities, and shipping paperwork for accuracy
- Work with production, logistics, and shop teams to keep shipments on schedule
- Maintain load tickets and shipping records using production/shipping software
- Train and assist new employees
- Conduct daily safety meetings and reinforce shop safety procedures
- Help identify ways to improve shipping and loadout processes
- Provide hands-on leadership in a busy manufacturing environment
