About The Position

The Steel Fabrication Operator reports directly to the Steel Fabrication Supervisor. Steel Fabrication Operators are responsible for achieving immediate and short-term production objectives laid down by the Steel Fabrication Supervisor. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required to meet production needs.

Requirements

Team Player.
Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to operate forklift and obtain certification within three months (on-the-job training provided).
Basic understanding of hand tools and how to properly use them.
Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
Read and verify complex sketches prior to producing parts. Check pieces in process against sketches.
Verify the tube size matches the sketch before running.
Measure and accurately mark tubing for production.
Accurately count number of pieces ran.
Minimize material waste.
Responsible for care and preventive maintenance of the equipment in use.
Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
Assist in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
Follow instructions given by supervisor.
Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
Other duties as assigned.
