Steel Detailer
About The Position
Ocean Steel Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Detailer with a desire to continue learning on the job. The Detailer will develop extensive steel product knowledge and follow department procedures for preparation of drawings, and bills of material. This position requires high attention to detail, to analyze schedules, specifications, architectural, structural, and steel fabricator drawings. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working within rigid time constraints, and can interact with Ocean Steel’s Engineers, Project Managers, Salespeople, Estimators, Production Supervisors, and Field Erectors.
Requirements
- Civil Engineering Technology graduate or previous experience in the construction industry along with the ability to read blueprints
- Experience with architectural drafting or detailing software
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset
Responsibilities
- Detailing structural steel using SDS2 software by Allplan
- Accurately producing drawings to meet contract specifications
- Effectively utilizing detailing software to produce quality drawings
- Thoroughly cross-checking architectural & structural contract drawings for conflicts and checking connection access for erection
- Other duties as assigned
