About The Position
An experienced Construction Estimator is sought for a Steel Contractor specializing in structural and miscellaneous steel projects. The company handles a variety of commercial and industrial projects, including government contracts, high-rise buildings, apartment complexes, restaurants, and sports fields. This is a full-time, salaried, in-house position within a positive, fast-paced environment, offering benefits.
Requirements
- Strong Computer skills with the ability to use or learn Tekla/PowerFab software
- Experience with structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Fluent in both Architectural and Structural bid documents
- Highly organized with the ability to communicate information in a clear and precise manner
- A person with the drive to build relationships and sell the job after the bid
- Detail-oriented with solid time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to manage and balance multiple projects
- Knowledge of AISC and AWS Standards
Responsibilities
- Analyze and compile cost data to ensure a high-quality bid
- Produce detailed bids using company specific format that clearly identifies project scope and includes accurate materials, shop and field labor
- Develop competitive bids using Tekla/PowerFab software
- Review bids with project managers and perform project hand-offs that convey scope
