About The Position

Sets-up, operates, and adjusts equipment within the steel adhesive department. This role involves maintaining the system as required by the production schedule to ensure an uninterrupted process, operating a stand-up forklift when necessary, and allocating Associates to designated machines to ensure a smooth flow of product through the taping process. The technician will also be responsible for running, troubleshooting, and maintaining various taping and packaging machines, performing repairs on sensors and motors, diagnosing and repairing robot issues, and complying with Lockout/Tagout procedures. Communication with Engineering regarding projects and improvements, performing daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance (PMs), and following all safety rules are also key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role requires performing functions in SAP, maintaining 5S standards, proper waste disposal, training new associates, and meeting company attendance standards.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and high level of hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to operate stand-up forklift.
  • Capable of standing, bending, and stooping for long periods of time throughout the defined shift.
  • Ability to work with various tools used in repairing machines.
  • Moderate decision-making and problem solving capabilities.
  • Ability to lift eighty (80) pounds.
  • Able to effectively verbally communicate with team members.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to demonstrate skillful use and knowledge of hand tools for machine repair and adjustment.

  • Machine setup and operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sets-up and adjusts all equipment within the taping department.
  • Maintains system, as required by the production schedule, to ensure an uninterrupted process.
  • Operates stand-up forklift when necessary.
  • Allocates Associates to designated machines to ensure a smooth flow of product through the taping process.
  • Runs, troubleshoots, and maintains the Automated Taping and Packaging Process, High-speed Tapers, and Taper machines, when scheduled.
  • Changes sensors, sensor wires, drive motor, and drive motor brushes.
  • Diagnose and repair Robot issues including resetting and changing set points.
  • Complies with Lockout/Tagout procedures when necessary.
  • Communicates with Engineering concerning projects/improvements.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly PM’s.
  • Follows all safety rules including the use of hoists or other safety devices when available.
  • Performs all functions required in SAP.
  • Maintain 5S standards.
  • Disposes of waste and recyclables in proper container.
  • Train new associates.
  • Meets company’s attendance standards.
