About The Position

The Steamfitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of commercial and industrial piping systems, boilers, HVAC equipment, hydronic systems, and related mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards while providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification – Steamfitter (307A) or registered apprentice.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC and hydronic systems.
  • Experience with boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • G1, G2 or G3 would be an asset
  • Working at Heights, WHMIS, and other safety certifications considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, repair, and maintain steam, hot water, chilled water, hydronic, gas, compressed air, and process piping systems.
  • Install and service boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and piping schematics.
  • Measure, fabricate, assemble, thread, groove, braze, solder, and weld piping systems as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service on commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Conduct pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, and commissioning of piping systems.
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, expansion joints, valves, strainers, and control devices.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Complete service reports, inspection forms, and work orders accurately and on time.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and overtime as required.
  • Assist in training apprentices and less experienced technicians.
