About The Position

The NPI Delivery Turbine Design Development Engineer within the Steam Turbine is responsible for adapting engineering design criteria and logic into advanced software applications for customer order execution which enables world-class performance and reliability for steam turbines. This is a critical role requiring both system level knowledge of turbomachinery and detailed steam turbine blading design expertise. This role will be responsible for collaborating with senior experts in the team to execute upgrades and maintenance of advanced software applications used to design steam turbines for new customer orders and service upgrade opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Some experience in designing turbomachinery components
  • Some experience in developing software applications and coding languages using AI tools and technology to supplement knowledge
  • Proficiency in English

  • Second language preferred, such as German, French, Spanish or Polish

Responsibilities

  • Own execution and implementation of engineering logic into existing software applications for designing steam turbines (i.e. Automated Steam Path Layout software).
  • Drive technology and development advancements from a system, sub-system and component vantage points.
  • Collaborate with global & cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders (Product Definition / Global Supply Chain) enabling & fostering mutual technical growth and delivery for our customers.
  • Lead appropriate engineering discussions to understand design details and processes to ensure software applications are robust and meet all customer requirements.
  • Follow rigorous NPI and software development tollgate processes from conceptual design through final validation across the full spectrum of Gas Power turbine configurations.
  • Design for EHS/Safety and demonstrate safety skillsets in support of manufacturing and field activities, i.e. lifting and transportation
  • Demonstrated excellence applying fundamentals of Mechanical Design, including material properties, statics, strength of materials, and fluid dynamics
