About The Position

As a key member of our faculty, you'll report directly to the Administration and play a crucial role in creating an exceptional educational experience. You'll be responsible for cultivating an effective classroom that promotes high student achievement and fosters a climate of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. You'll design and deliver grade-level appropriate learning experiences that captivate students through active learning, hands-on application, and rich discussions. Utilizing both formal and informal assessment strategies, you'll maximize student achievement, modify instructional approaches as needed, and collect data for continuous improvement. You'll collaborate closely with a supportive team to develop shared lesson plans, establish measurable goals for student achievement, and contribute to a positive school culture. You'll also actively participate in professional learning communities and attend development opportunities to continually enhance your skills. Instilling a strong independent and collaborative work ethic in your students will be key, preparing them for future success. You'll maintain accurate digital gradebooks and communicate regularly with parents, fostering strong home-school connections regarding student progress. Ensuring a safe and organized environment is also a critical part of this role. You'll take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities, and assist administration in implementing school policies. This includes maintaining order in the classroom and overseeing paraprofessionals and volunteers when applicable. You'll continuously strive to improve your professional competence by attending meetings and serving on staff committees as required. Maintaining accurate records and adhering to all required educational plans and school policies will also be essential. The Elementary STEAM teacher will collaborate with a dynamic team of educators to provide project-based learning experiences for K-5th grade students. The key function of this position will be to facilitate developmentally appropriate STEAM learning activities, experiences, and assessments to foster intellectual, physical, and social growth, targeting the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for students in grades kindergarten through five.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or a related field of instruction is required.
  • Florida certification in the subject area.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science/STEM field. (preferred)
  • Florida teaching certificate in Elementary Education or 5-9 Science
  • Knowledge of STEAM best practices.
  • Empathy and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software such as Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience as a STEM/STEAM teacher (preferred)
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities.
  • Prior knowledge, or willingness to develop skill sets, using a variety of STEM tools including, 3-D Printers, Printlab programs, Sphero Robots, Wonder Dotand Dash, Cubelets, Snap Circuits, Magna Tiles and Microscopes.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Create a state-of-the-art STEAM lab with the integration of a variety of robotics, engineering, construction, and design tools.
  • Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math principles.
  • Demonstrate the ability to encourage students to use a variety of skills to solve problems and collaborate amongst peers.
  • Facilitate “hands-on” experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula for students in grades K-5.
  • Understand how to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences.
  • Support the School-wide Science Fair and Curriculum EXPO.
  • Provides a STEAM Parent Academy during the school year.
  • Collaborate with STEAM coach.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan units of study.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM, and online tools.
  • Collaborate with other schools in the CSA district to support STEM/STEAM programs and initiatives.
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive, encouraging learning climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Assist with analysis of science data for grade five students and work with teachers to provide intervention strategies.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Participate in training and professional development
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
