About The Position

Galileo Learning is seeking a STEAM Project Designer to create the innovative STEAM projects and curriculum that are central to their educational offerings. This role involves taking an idea from its initial prototype through testing and refinement to a final, easy-to-use facilitation guide for instructors. The position also includes developing and delivering instructor training. Galileo has been providing STEAM-based summer camps for 25 years, focusing on building creative confidence, growth mindset, and innovation skills for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. They also support school districts and organizations in delivering these programs. This role is part of the Educational Product team and reports to the Director of Educational Product. Success requires creativity, tinkering skills, an understanding of instructor and child needs, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment, with attention to detail and a collaborative, iterative design process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, art and design, engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in educational settings, specifically designing hands-on activities for creative problem-solving.
  • Experience creating multimedia content, including basic photography and video production.
  • Understanding of K-8 enrichment environments, educator needs, and children's developmental capacities.
  • A strong portfolio of STEAM project ideas and a proven ability to bring them to life.
  • Experience meeting regular deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
  • A track record of developing clear instructional materials and communicating complex ideas effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design hands-on STEAM projects that inspire children and differentiate Galileo programs.
  • Test activities in classroom settings to refine lesson pacing and project steps, ensuring age-appropriateness.
  • Specify all necessary materials for each project, including quantities.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to approve material samples and meet program constraints.
  • Create clear, multimedia facilitation guides based on the Galileo Innovation Approach.
  • Design and potentially deliver instructor training to build excitement and ensure program fidelity.
  • Observe programs in action and gather feedback from instructors and customers to inform future development.
  • Contribute to various Educational Product team priorities, such as new curriculum templates, content access tools, and professional development resources.
  • Take initiative to expand into new areas of Educational Product design aligned with team needs.
