About The Position
The role of the Steam Plant Mechanic is to work under the supervision of senior mechanics to perform inspections and repairs on boilers and associated equipment, pumps, turbines, compressors, and other auxiliary equipment in the steam plant. This position is responsible for maintaining the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery/equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts. The mechanic will also reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs, and may need to go inside boilers for inspection and preventive maintenance. Additionally, the role involves operating a forklift, painting, and cleaning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanical knowledge
- Between 1-3 years’ related experience
- Knowledge of welders and cutting torches and other related tools needed in the steam plant
Nice To Haves
- Related vocational or technical training
- 5 years’ related experience
- Ability to weld - mig welding and stick welding
- Ability to use a torch and plasma cutter
- Ability to fabricate metal
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to operate a forklift, use power tools, hand tools
- Ability to work in confined spaces and work off ladders
Responsibilities
