About The Position

This is a 0.667 FTE (full-time equivalent) position for a Grades K-1 STEAM and Literacy Teacher at Wawaloam Elementary. The teacher will provide one session per week of STEAM instruction and one session per week of Literacy instruction for each class. The STEAM component will focus on exposing young children to engaging opportunities in STEAM topics, including coding and maker-space activities, coordinating with classroom teachers on science kit instruction (GEMS-Net), and collaborating with other special subject teachers for multi-disciplinary learning. The Literacy component will involve engaging students in supplementary literacy instruction or enrichment to support grade-level standards and the development of early reading and writing skills.

Requirements

• Teaching certification appropriate for elementary grades.
• Experience with STEAM education, including coding and maker-space concepts.
• Familiarity with science kits and curriculum coordination.
• Experience in delivering literacy instruction and enrichment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and other specialists.

Nice To Haves

• Experience teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade.
• Knowledge of the GEMS-Net science program.
