About The Position

The STEAM Activity Leader will assist the Education Manager and STEAM Instructor in implementing lessons within the STEAM Lab, which features activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. This role involves leading and/or assisting with lesson implementation, managing lab equipment and supplies, and supporting other programming as needed. The position requires adherence to all safety procedures and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School/College education.
• Experience in leading or participating in recreational and or educational programming.
• Knowledge and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
• Interest in trades or engineering, and the ability to learn to use tools to fix and make things.
• Interest in working with children and families.
• Ability to communicate verbally with children and adults.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to be an effective listener.
• Ability to share feedback.
• Ability to apply critical thinking & problem-solving.
• Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Education Manager and STEAM Instructor in implementing lessons.
• Plan lessons for other leaders to implement.
• Lead and/or assist implementation of lessons.
• Provide supply requests to the Education Manager in advance, as needed, to replace used inventory and to implement new lessons and activities.
• Manage STEAM Lab equipment, supplies, and furniture.
• Assist the Education Manager, as needed, with DREAM2 programming and implementation.
• Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed.
• Support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
