About The Position

The Center for Sleep and Circadian Science (CSCS) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh includes several researchers examining the role of sleep/wake activity in mental and physical health outcomes. Under the supervision of a faculty Biostatistician, and in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry investigators, the successful candidate will assist with several research projects to analyze data and interpret and communicate results. The ideal candidate is highly independent, organized, detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to quickly learn and use new statistical techniques. Experience with programming in R is highly preferred. The position is grant funded.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Psychology, or a related Social Science field.
• One year of relevant experience with statistical analyses and packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R) and Microsoft Office components (e.g. EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint) preferably in a research setting.
• Independent, organized, detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to quickly learn and use new statistical techniques.
• Proficiency in R.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with programming in R is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate statistical methods (including both classical and modern approaches), create variables and datasets as needed, and apply the methods to analyze data and interpret the results.
• Prepare and present oral and written reports of findings, including tables and graphical displays.
• Assist in the development of reports or manuscripts for peer-review, including scholarly journals.
• Review statistical components of protocols for scientific or IRB review and/or statistical analysis plans.
